MEASURING FOR A KILT OUTFIT

While it is recommended to have someone assist you with measuring for your kilt, we understand that you may need to measure on your own. Please keep in mind that kilt measurements differ from your regular trouser measurements. Follow these steps for accurate measurements:

WAIST MEASUREMENT: Using a tailor's tape measure, wrap it snugly around your natural waist, which is typically around the naval area. Take a tight measurement, as you don't want the kilt to fall down. Please note that your kilt measurement may be larger than your normal trouser size since the kilt sits higher. Double-check the measurement to ensure accuracy.

LENGTH MEASUREMENT: Stand with your feet together, looking straight ahead. Measure from the navel to just over the top of your kneecap. The kilt should overlap the top of your kneecap and sit in the crease at the back of your knee. Providing your height is important as it helps us determine if the measurements you have taken appear correct.

HEIGHT MEASUREMENT: For the height measurement, stand barefoot with your legs together and maintain an upright posture while looking straight ahead.

SEAT MEASUREMENT: The seat measurement is taken for the third buckle of your kilt and represents the widest part of your hips. Stand with your feet together and cross your arms to keep them clear of the tape measure. Take a loose measurement around the widest area of your hips, leaving some room to allow the kilt to swing comfortably.

CHEST MEASUREMENT: Using the tailor's tape measure, stand straight and wrap it around your chest at the widest part, typically above or at the nipple line. If measuring your chest alone, ensure the end of the tape is at the front, making it easier to read the measurement in a mirror.

SLEEVE MEASUREMENT: Measure your sleeve length from the top of your shoulder down to the wrist bone. Keep your arms relaxed at your sides and look straight ahead to obtain the most accurate measurement.

SHIRT SIZE: Your shirt size corresponds to the circumference of your neck. If you have a dress shirt that fits well, use that size. When measuring your neck, use the tailor's tape measure and wrap it around where the collar would typically sit. Please provide this measurement in inches.
